"Tools On The Loose 2005"

A Coaster Video Review by: Ted Cromwell (CoasterFanatic)

In the first "Affiliate" release from Theme Park Review, Don Garrison and Monica Jack take us on a non-stop, no holds barred adventure across the United States.

Disc 1
Starting on the west coast with the Disney parks, Disc one is mostly comprised of footage from most of the larger theme parks in the country. Not only do we get a view of some great coasters, but also the insane antics of Don himself. Within the first couple segments, it becomes obvious that he will do anything to get the credit!

Even though the first disc is mostly large themers, there is still room for some of the lesser visited and quirkier parks. Adventure City, Scandia, and Cypress Gardens balance out the first disc nicely by adding some small park charm along with some great opporunities that aren't possible at their larger counterparts. Anyways, who doesn't want extensive footage of the massive Fiesta Express!

When the gangs arrives in Pennsylvania, the video even offers great advice including "How to reheat your restaurant leftovers with a hair dryer"!

Disc 2
Picking right up where the first disc left off, Don and Monica take us to the east coast for footage from great parks such as Dorney, Compounce, Six Flags New England, Canobie, and more.

Back in California, our hosts take us on a camping trip and visit the redwoods. Then it is off to a lengthy list of smaller parks before heading back across the country for one of the best segments of the video, Wisconsin Dells. In the Dells, you will get the opportunity of taking a front seat ride on such great attractions as Avalanche and the super-hyped woodie that is Hades!

The second disc wraps with a visit to Six Flags Great America and a great look into the Puyallup Fair midway and all the fabulous rides that call the fair home.

In the end, "Tools" is a enjoyable video that offers a unique look into the theme/amusement park experience. Don and Monica are great hosts, and the music selection is dead on for the better part of the DVD.

While the video isn't neccesarily appropriate for all family members (PG-13), it does offer a great experience for those that don't take things too seriously.
